Course Objective

1. Students will develop various study skills and acquire an academic
attitude. Thereby, students will reflect on their development and keep
track of their academic progress.
2. Students will evaluate future study and career options and work on
the development of skills that will aid achieving their future goals.
3. Provide information about practical study-related issues and
regulations.

Course Content

The goal of this course is to develop and discuss the student’s academic
skills, study and career perspectives. Students are encouraged to think
of their ideal study path, thinking about electives, minors and possible
masters. Lecturers/tutors and academic advisors will supervise the
students and provide information.
This specific course is offered in the first year and consists of small
assignments and work groups. Besides the work groups, students will also
create and discuss an individual portfolio to evaluate their study
progress, choices and to discuss their personal learning objectives.
During the course, students record their progress, assignment and
development in this online portfolio.

Method of Assessment

Lectures, work groups, symposium and active participation are
compulsory, as are the portfolio discussions. This will be registered as
a pass or fail.
