Portfolio Accounting

2019-2020

Course Objective

The portfolio will - ultimately - document that students who complete
this programme are ready to enter the labour market with an articulated
view of their intended career and future professional development,
including the areas of expertise where, building on this programme, they
will take their next steps in professional education or training.
It relates to the programme learning objective 'self awareness':
Students can explain how they will take responsibility for their own
learning, knowledge and actions.

Course Content

The portfolio is an evolving element of the programme with which we,
ultimately, want to wrap up the preparation of the student to begin a
professional career in the area of accounting and control. For the
academic year 2019-2020, this programme component is still quite basic,
consisting mainly of a requirement to participate in a limited number of
activities in the area of career orientation, exposure to practice, or
development of professional skills. In previous years, many students
already took part in such activities, and the current portfolio simply
makes sure that all students avail themselves of the opportunities that
are available.

Teaching Methods

In 2019-2020, the portfolio consists at a minimum of participation in a
number of career-oriented events or courses. These can be chosen by the
students out of items the programme/SBE/Vrije Universiteit or by
external parties. Additional optional elements may be offered. Details
are announced in a course manual on Canvas.

Method of Assessment

Completing the participation requirements as detailed in the course
manual.
