Artificial Intelligence Lab


Course Objective

Artificial Intelligence lab is a hands-on lab class that takes students
on a journey to develop a data-driven business model innovation for a
case organization.

Learning Objectives:
• Create insights by using established artificial intelligence tools,
and judge the quality of these insights (output of artificial
intelligence based analyses).
• Experience the process of data-driven innovation and develop skills to
use data and artificial intelligence as a basis for value creation and
• Select a theory, concept or framework and apply to a business case.
• Pitch a data-driven innovation to business audiences.
• Work in a self-managed team and assess one’s role and contribution in
the team context.
• Stakeholder management.

Course Content

Data have become an important business asset fundamental to many
processes of value creation. The ability to transform data into business
value, for example through actionable insights, or the development of
data-driven products and services, has become a critical success factor
for many organizations. In this course you will learn to work with (big)
data and artificial intelligence to enhance your understanding of the
challenges businesses and organizations face when it comes to
data-driven business innovation, as well as learn to answer these
challenges. For example, traditional players in healthcare investigate
what the consequences will be if Amazon enters this market with
data-driven healthcare solutions. You will learn to ask the right
questions and come up with solutions and recommendations on how to
create, appropriate and deliver value with data and artificial

Workshops (combination of lectures and tutorials).
In-house lab sessions.
Pitch presentations.

Method of Assessment

- Individual assessment: (course participation, assignments, AI
practice test, and lecture presentation)
- Team assessment (pitch paper and presentation)

Entry Requirements

Desired knowledge: prior mandatory courses.
You must have a laptop that can connect to a wireless network and bring
it to all lectures and tutorials.
Basic courses on professional (presentation) skills.
Basic knowledge on statistics (academic level).
