Course Content

This clinical module is a continuation of module Clinical Course
Periodontology-2, at an advanced level. All aspects of module Clinical
Course Periodontology-2 are continued with own patients. Overall in this
clinical module the student will build more experience and independency
for treatment planning and treatment performance. This clinical module
of one academic year (42 weeks) is especially focused on follow-up
treatment procedures after the initial and surgical periodontal therapy
procedures. The student is further trained in re-evaluation procedures
after surgery, including planning of maintenance therapy. This module is
especially focused on the demonstration of the student to show
independence and self-reflection. In this module the student will be
further taught and guided into the application of implant dentistry to
those periodontitis patients in need of extra functional/chewing units.
Restorative and prosthetic treatment planning with dental implants is an
important part. Reporting of this additional phase to the referring
dentist is also being trained and supervised. Finally in this module,
the student will teach undergraduate dental students the principles of
clinical periodontology, including periodontal surgery and will guide
him/herself these undergraduate students in their patient treatments.
