Parallel to the Dutch Geschiedenis programme is a fully English-taught bachelor track in History and International Studies. The programme is a combination of history courses, modern language units and research skills from the fields of global history and international relations. In year 1, in different courses, the history of Europe and the world from antiquity to the present is discussed. In addition, we will train you in general subjects like Academic Skills, Key Texts in History and International Studies, Academic English and Philosophy. In Year 2, students take several core modules and choose electives that cover a great variety of themes, such as Global Political Economy, Transatlantic Connections and Environmental History.
Furthermore, students take courses in modern languages and learn about different approaches from international relations and global history. In Year 3, students can study a semester abroad, do an internship or choose a minor. Students finish their programme with a bachelor thesis (free choice of topic).
