Econometrics and Data Science

In Econometrics and Data Science (EDS) you study the core methods of econometrics, computer science and statistics in combination with the ethical aspects of data science.

During the first year, you primarily focus on developing a solid foundation in mathematics, programming, probability theory and statistics, combined with economics and finance. The two years that follow build heavily on this strong basis.

In the second year, you take targeted courses in the core areas econometrics and data science. You learn a variety of methods and techniques, focusing on their theoretical properties, empirical applications and implementation.

In the first semester of the third year, you have freedom of choice, which is indicated as minor in the annual schedule. However, there are various options: a faculty or university minor possibly in combination with an internship, an own package of subjects or an exchange programme abroad. Check carefully in advance whether approval by the Examination Board is required. In the second semester, you deepen your knowledge by choosing specialized courses in Econometrics, Machine Learning, or contemporaneous Data Science fields. Finally, you write a bachelor's thesis on a subject of your interest.

On top of this, excellent and ambitious students are also given the option to follow an additional Honours programme.
