Diabetes and vascular disease

Course Objective

To obtain a thorough understanding of the mechanisms underlying the
development of diabetes and vascular disease and current diagnostic and
therapeutic modalities.
To get familiar with state-of-the-art knowledge and scientific frontiers
in the field of cardiac disease.

Course Content

This course focuses on cardiac disease, with specific emphasis on renal
disease and dialysis, obesity and diabetes, and vascular thrombosis and
inflammation.
Clinicians and experimental researchers active in the area of scientific
research for vascular disease provide the lectures. Students are
required to read scientific articles and to participate in scientific
discussions.

Written exam (knowledge test) and assignments

Entry Requirements

Bachelor in life sciences, biomedical sciences, (technical) medicine,
movement sciences.

Target Audience

Students following the Cardiovascular Research master program.

Additional Information

This is an advanced course and basic knowledge of cardiac structure and
function is required to complete the course successfully.
