Research Skills and Career Perspectives


Course Objective

The goal of this course is to provide information on various topics
related to research skills and career perspectives.

By finishing the course, the student:
- knows what aspects are important when looking for an internship and
what can be done to maximize the chance of finding an internship
- is able to write a clearly structured application letter with a clear
goal and reasons as to why a particular (internship) position is a good
- knows why scientific integrity is important, which pitfalls exist for
researchers and what may happen as a consequence of breaches in
scientific integrity (fraud, questionable research practices, etc)
- is aware of the different career options when obtaining a master's
diploma and knows about the different aspects of pursuing a PhD position

Course Content

Within this course various topics will be covered, including:
- How to arrange an internship and write a good motivation letter
- Scientific integrity
- Career opportunities (alumnisymposium)
- It is possible that extra topics are added in due time.
