In this one-year Master’s programme in Archaeology, theory meets practice. You will receive balanced training in both aspects, which thoroughly prepares you for leading positions in the professional field. In the regular courses, you will critically engage in theoretical debates on today’s central issues in archaeology and reflect on connections between the role of archaeology and history, the social sciences, and heritage studies. Students are also trained in cutting-edge digital skills.
Parallel to these theoretical modules, students actively participate in a series of research labs conducted by teaching staff, postdocs, and PHD's of the department. In three successive research labs, students develop the following skills:
- Formulate research questions and design a research project;
- Work with archaeological materials and databases;
- Communicate and disseminate research results both to an academic and a wider audience.
This form of collaborative work uniquely prepares students for the individual Master’s thesis research.
