Political Science

2026-2027

Does the rise of China call for a new world order? How can we ensure that countries and companies tackle climate change? And is there a future for democracy? In the Master’s programme Political Science, you learn to understand politics in the light of global developments such as the changing world order, climate crisis, the rise of populism, and new digital technologies. Offering a broad range of theoretical perspectives and research skills, the programme enables you to analyse the major political challenges of our time and the solutions proposed for them.

This international and research-oriented Master’s programme enables you to deepen your knowledge of international relations, global environmental governance and comparative politics, and to specialize in one of the four specialisations. Over the year of the programme, you study the core debates in Political Science from various theoretical perspectives, apply them to the big societal questions and case-based analysis, and receive due attention for qualitative and quantitative methodological training. You will practice how to conduct independent research and be acquainted with the pertinent topics and approaches within the programme’s four specialisations: Democracy, Power and Inequality; International Relations-Geopolitics and Global Political Economy; International Relations-Peace and Security; and Global Environmental Politics.
