Major advances in digital technologies such as algorithms, platforms, apps, and online social networks create complex and interconnected challenges that affect societies at different levels. The Research Master Social Sciences for a Digital Society trains students to anticipate, understand, and analyse these challenges, and meet them head-on. Upon completion of the degree, students are experts in interdisciplinary and mixed methods approaches that allow them to address the global complexities of a digital society. Connecting qualitative, quantitative, and computational methods, the program addresses topics such as polarisation, inclusion, security, AI, and health – themes that do not fit neatly within disciplinary boundaries. Students develop the communication, self-directed learning, and project management skills needed to collaborate in multidisciplinary research teams with academic and societal partners.
