Course ObjectiveAim of the course is to enable students to perform an in depth
literature review of a
specific topic of their choosing in Geology and Geochemistry research.
Course ContentStudents prepare an in depth literature review of a specialist topic in
and Geochemistry that is not treated in detail in regular compulsory or
optional courses in the MSc Earth Sciences curriculum.
Students are coupled to a Department of Earth Science's staff member of
their choosing. Student and staff member discuss the topic and precise
scope of the review culminating in a written review report that will be

student and staff member.
Method of AssessmentA written literature review report.
Entry RequirementsThe student should ideally be enrolled in the Geology and Geochemistry
specialization of the Master Earth Sciences
LiteratureExtensive literature review.
Target AudienceThis course is primarily aimed at 2nd year MSc Earth Sciences students,
but is also accessible to first year MSc Earth Science students.
Additional InformationThe literature review can be undertaken at any time during an academic
year and is not limited to any specific time frame.
