Course ObjectiveIndependent assessment of scholarly debates and the applied methodology;
to give written testimony of this according to the norms of scientific
Course ContentThe topic of the term paper is based on one of the courses taught in the
first semester, such as the courses Great Debates in Ancient Historical
Studies or Rulers' Ideology.
Teaching MethodsIndividual supervision by one of the ACASA staff members, usually in the
form of up to three meetings.
Method of AssessmentWritten paper of no more than 8000 words.
Entry RequirementsStudents admitted to one of the following Master’s programmes can take
this course: (Research) MA Classics and Ancient Civilizations,
(Research) MA History.
LiteratureDepending on the subject.
Additional InformationEach student is required to initiate contact with a prospective
supervisor before 1 December.
