Course ObjectiveThe main objective is to learn to read difficult primary philosophical
treatises, from beginning to end.
Course ContentStudents read a classic text in legal/political philosophy.
Teaching MethodsEvery course week students read the assigned chapter(s) and hand in, a
before each class, brief Introductions (750-1000 words) in which (a)
the text is summarized, (b) the key interpretive choices are justified
and (c) the main problems are discussed. In class the chapters and
introductions are discussed.
