Course Objective
This course has the single main aim to teach students the first stepsof writing a research proposal. At the end of this course, the
student will be familiar with actual proposals and the way they are
reviewed, and the student will have experienced how to write a short new
proposal.
Course Content
Students are asked to evaluate a numberof existing proposals that were submitted by staff members in recent
years. In addition, each student will also have to write his or her own
proposal, which is then evaluated by fellow students following a
procedure very similar to what happens in real life. This class may
only be attended by PDCS students.
Teaching Methods
There will be two meetings (in working group style), one to discuss theexisting proposals and one to discuss the students proposals.
Method of Assessment
The grading is based on- Your reviews of the existing proposals (15%)
- Participation in the first class (15%)
- Your own proposal (40%)
- Reviews of the other students' proposals (20%)
- Participation in second class (10%)
