Course ObjectiveUnderstanding the physical principles of medical equipment in view of a
safe and effective application.
Course ContentThe course consists of an overview of various medical devices
discussing the physical principles and mechanism of action when used
with a patient. The understanding of the physics contributes to the
safety of the patient and the way the device can be applied most
optimally. Particular devices will be discussed like electro-surgery,
lasers, ultrasonic knifes, endoscopes, etc. Also recent research and
new developments of instruments will be shown.
