Academic and Research Skills:
- Understand and know the reasons for successful strategic
entrepreneurship and organizational renewal, and show this in a multiple
choice test.
- Understand and know the conditions and process of strategic
entrepreneurship and organizational renewal, and show this in a multiple
choice test.

Knowledge of Theory + Methods and Solving Complex Problems:
- Apply theories and knowledge on strategic entrepreneurship and
organizational renewal to real-life problems, by writing about a case.

- Apply theories and knowledge on strategic entrepreneurship and
organizational renewal to real-life problems, by communicating about a
case during tutorials.

Inhoud vak

How do companies such as Google, Tesla, Facebook and Apple continuously
create new market spaces, and revolutionize the world? Their strategic
entrepreneurship not only makes them outperform the competition; it
makes competition irrelevant. However, in the end only very few
companies have such an entrepreneurial culture and strong innovation
spirit. How, then, can established companies still renew themselves in
order to boost their innovation and foster organizational renewal?

Risk taking and dealing with uncertainty are inherent to innovation
projects. To encourage these attitudes in creative employees, companies
need to rethink their structures, systems, leadership and culture, even
more so in this digital era. This urges us to rethink the boundaries of
the firm, the nature of competition as well as the purpose and identity
of the firm.

In this course, we focus on the practice and theory of strategic
entrepreneurship and organizational renewal. In particular, we aim to
provide students with the knowledge, insights and skills to assess
existing strategies for nurturing strategic entrepreneurship and
innovation. In addition, we give students the opportunity to practice
communicative skills related to strategic entrepreneurship and
organizational renewal. Next, we want students to generate their own
opinion about new business development within an established company.
Finally, we teach students to consider future digital developments in
strategies for strategic entrepreneurship and innovation with the aim to
reshape the competitive landscape.
