Doel vakWith the successful completion of the thesis, the student demonstrates
that he / she:
1. has insight into the key research methods and key data in the field;
2. is able to interpret, assess and take an individual position on
academic practice – and the results thereof – within the field of study;
3. is able to assess relevant academic literature;
4. is able to independently formulate questions with regard to the field
of study, to operationalise those questions and represent them in a
5. is able to independently carry out research in the field of study and
report on that research orally and in writing in a way that complies
with the common academic conventions in the field of study.
Inhoud vakConducting independent research on a subject from the archaeology or
landscape archaeology of either Northwestern Europe or the Mediterranean
area, resulting in a thesis.
OnderwijsvormIndividual guidance. The student first chooses a subject and explains
this for approval to one of the teachers. After approval it is set which
teacher is the supervisor and who acts as the second reader.
ToetsvormThe final version of the thesis is read by two teachers who both grade
the work independently of each other. The assessment criteria are
transparent via an assessment form and are communicated to the student
at the start of the thesis.

Toelichting CanvasThe student needs to sign up for the thesis. The final version needs to
