Inhoud vakWithin the Contemporary Art History specialization students may chose an
elective of 6 ECTS. They may also chose to do an internship instead.
This internship should be a research internship at an institution
operating in the context of contemporary art, or offering/working on a
project that centers on artistic practice. Please see the internship
conditions of the Faculty of Humanities for further information.
OnderwijsvormNote that a valid internship for this program should be focused on
research; that means its main scope should be to answer a research
question relevant for the organization with which you are working.
Finding a research internship is your own responsibility and we cannot
guarantee you will find a place (especially if you don’t speak Dutch).
Furthermore, we strongly advise to restrict this internship to 6ECTS,
which might make it hard to find a placement opportunity, as most Dutch
institutions prefer longer internships. However, longer internships come
with the great risk of causing a delay in study process (you might not
be able to finish the program within a year’s time). This said,
internships of 9 or (max.) 12 ECTS are possible, generally (you would
then exceed the required 60 ECTS). The process of finding an internship
takes time; therefore students are encouraged to start developing
proposals for particular organizations before the beginning of the first
semester. In any case, please consult with your program coordinator
ToetsvormThe placement supervisor is responsible for the final assessment of the
placement. This assessment is based on the following documents:
• Placement report
• End product or products
• Assessment by the placement mentor
• Assessment form completed by the placement supervisor
Overige informatieIt is optional for students to use a research internship as a
preparation for their master thesis. Results of the research executed
during the internship can be used in so far as they are complementary to
the research of the master thesis.
