Doel vak

To provide a theoretical and practical introduction to the
multidisciplinary area of cognitive, clinical and social neuroscience.
Students will learn about theoretical approaches and important findings,
as well as analyze example datasets themselves. The aim of the course is
to provide a sound basis for the remaining minor and master program.

Inhoud vak

The course will treat modern techniques and recent data that relate
mental processes to brain functions. Techniques that will be covered are
EEG, MEG, MRI, lesions. Mental functions that will be studied include
perception, memory, emotion, language, and social cognition. The course
is both theoretical and practical: in addition to the plenary classes,
students will analyze example EEG en MRI datasets in smaller, supervised


Lectures, computer practicals and literature study.


Written examination, multiple choice questions (80%).
Practical exam analyzing EEG and MRI data (20%).
Partial grades are only valid during the study year in which the grade
has been achieved.
