Inhoud vak

Developing employees’ skills and fostering their talents is essential
for initiating and maintaining organizational development and
competitiveness. In this course students will learn about recent trends
in human resource development (HRD), evidence-based HRD practices in
contemporary organizations, and the state of the art in research for
testing and establishing the efficiency of HRD. Students will apply
their knowledge to the development of a concrete HRD program,
intervention, or training. A blend of lectures, discussions, case
studies, practical examples, and team presentations will promote the
learning process. Each lecture contains 1. An organizational case study
or example 2. A lecture to provide an overview of the literature for
each session's topic 3. An exam question task to prepare you for the
exam. The course is structured along the fundamentals of HRD, the HRD
process, and concrete HRD applications. Guest lecturers from practice
will ensure that students not only learn the theoretical background of
HRD, but also experience why and how the topics discussed in the course
matter in daily organizational life.

Lectures, case studies, and team presentations aimed at applying and
transferring knowledge about HRD research and practice.

Students are expected to actively participate in team exercises,
including small field studies, case studies, and team presentations in
class. All team presentations and accompanying written summaries will be
graded. Attendance during team presentations is strictly mandatory.

There will be a written exam (multiple choice) at the end of the class.

Both the team presentations and the exam need to pass minimal
requirements in order to obtain credits for this class.
Partial grades are only valid during the study year in which the grade
has been achieved.
