Inhoud vak

During the course Project ISO, students gain skills required to
perform a business project. The business project has four special
1. The project takes place at a real company with a real IT-related
problem. Students can contribute to a (partial) solution of this
2. Initially the company only has a global idea of their problem or
opportunity. The students help the company to articulate their question,
while negotiating about a possible solution path. The main challenge is
to understand the ‘business question’ that is behind the ‘information
question’. The point is to learn to understand the client and create a
relationship with them.
3. The group will work with a delivery scheme agreed upon with the
client on a basis of planning and co-operation. The team will then
analyse this problem and make a design for its solution, possibly
including a mock-up or prototype. Full implementation of the design is
not part of the project. However, recommendations for its implementation
are made.
4. The students work as a team, which implies internal organisation,
effective communication and conflict resolution.

The participants work in project groups of 4-6 people. The teams are
composed by the coordinator. Each team arranges all project meetings.
This includes meetings with the client, the the supervisors and with the
team itself.

Every other week you plan a meeting with our supervisor at the
university. You attend the first lecture, and the last evaluation
lecture. In between there are voluntary seminars where you can ask for
help of the coordinator and fellow students.

Both the business project supervisors and university supervisors assess
the project process and quality. Each contributes 40% to the final
grade. Peer assessment within the groups determines the other 20% of the

The university supervisors will look at:
- The produced documents,
- The methods used,
- Communication and cooperation,
- Planning.

The clients of the business project rate:
- the quality of the results.

The course coordinator always has a last say on the grade in order to
ensure consistency across groups.
