Doel vak
The aim of this course is to get acquainted with the performance ofpharmacological assays and molecular biological techniques in the
laboratory. This course is linked to the course 'Molecular
Pharmacology' (XB_43001), addressing how drugs act on (patho)
physiological processes and pharmacological parameters.
Inhoud vak
To study the pharmacological parameters of drugs cellular model systems(mammalian cells) expressing drug targets of interest will be used.
During the practical work students will perform ligand-receptor
interaction studies, functional studies to determine ligand potency and
efficacy (e.g. G protein signaling, beta-arrestin recruitment) and
antagonistic properties of compounds (biosensor assay). Moreover, they
will also get acquainted with the use of molecular biological
techniques. This practical work will be accompanied by background
lectures (molecular pharmacology XB-43001), exercises to determine
pharmacological parameters and data analysis and reporting.
