Doel vakOverall aims of the track:
I: To make students aware of the multidisciplinary approach to
perioperative patient care and the complexity and interactions of
physiological processes to surgical trauma.
II: To deepen integrated clinical and anatomical knowledge by means of
surgical anatomical landmarks and dissection room experience, and the
appreciation of human anatomy as seen through various imaging
Inhoud vakThe minor track “Multidisciplinary Perioperative Patient Management and
Integrated Surgical Anatomy” offers a comprehensive program by which
students can explore an interest in perioperative care and the
management of surgical emergencies.
This minor module is divided into 3 courses. The first offers students
an integrated perspective on the perioperative care and management of
surgical patients. In the second and third courses, students learn to
integrate their knowledge of basic human anatomy with surgical anatomy
in the theatre, and radiological anatomy through a number of imaging
Through this module, students can deepen their knowledge and
understanding of anatomy through intensive dissection. The clinical
anatomy of the thorax, abdomen, and pelvis will be studied.
The minor track consists of 3 courses:
Course 1: Multidisciplinary perioperative patient management
Dr E.S. van der Heiden, Department of Intensive Care
Course 2: Gastrointestinal surgery
Dr M. R. Meijerink, Department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine
Dr B.M. Zonderhuis Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery
Course 3: Trauma and vascular perioperative care

Afwijkende intekenprocedureBefore the start of the semester, students will be invited to select their preferred minor track. However, the Institute of Education and Training (IET) will make a final selection based on both student preferences and availability in the different tracks. Once you have been selected for a track, the IET will make sure you’re registered for all educational activities such as study groups, courses and exams. Important: Please be aware that in the case that you do not pass an exam, you will NOT be automatically registered for a re-examination, and will need to do this yourself. In order to sign up to resit an examination, you will need to apply no later than 2 weeks before the re-examination through the form “Re-take Exam Bachelor of Medicine.”
Toelichting CanvasThis course is supported by a corresponding CANVAS course, which
contains all of the required information of this course including an
overview of the required articles and assignments. The CANVAS course
will also be used to post announcements relevant to the course. You will
automatically have access to the CANVAS course.

the multidisciplinary approach to the perioperative care of surgical
patients. The integration of basic human anatomy, imaging modalities,
and surgical approaches are the common ground across the 3 courses.
Students with interest and experience in all 3 components will be placed
with preference. Knowledge of basic medical science comparable to the
