Doel vak

- To obtain knowledge about the areas and functions of Human Resource
- To gain insights into a strategic approach to Human Resource
- To apply knowledge and insights to case studies and problems from
organizational practice

Inhoud vak

Without qualified and motivated employees, it is almost impossible for
companies to remain competitive. But how can organizations strategically
and effectively attract, retain, compensate and develop suitable
employees? These (and more) questions will be answered in the HRM
course. The course aims to help students understand the ‘big picture’ of
HRM, both from a theoretical and from a practical perspective. Students
will learn about the areas and functions of HRM and how they are


Classes will be a mix of (guest) lectures, case studies, and team
presentations aimed at transferring and applying knowledge about HRM
research and practice.


Students are expected to actively participate in team assignments,
including a team presentation in class (10% of the grade) and a team
paper (40% of the grade). There will be an individual, written exam
(multiple choice) at the end of the course (50% of the grade). Both the
team assignment and the exam need to meet minimal requirements in order
to obtain credits for this class. Partial grades are only valid during
the year in which the grade has been achieved.
