Open Innovation in Sciences are linked to TEIP in that their specific
course contents are directly leveraged in the TEIP course.

Inhoud vak

This 12 EC Technology Entrepreneurship In Practice (TEIP) course is the
core of the Minor Technology Entrepreneurship and runs through the
entire semester from september. In TEIP students are taught a wealth of
models and approaches that allow them to build a comprehensive business
plan in three consecutive phases: Explore (P1), Develop (P2) and
Exploit (P3). In the first weeks TEIP student teams (2 per team) are
forged and teams elect a candidate business idea selected from a broad
range early technology startups. Candidate projects are taken from VU
research and the VU startups ecosystem and are grounded in human
movement sciences, biology, physics, chemistry, comp sci or IT or a
combination thereof. TEIP content is provided by external as well as
internal VU experts and entrepreneurs in a close collaboration with IXA
(Innovation Exchange Amsterdam), DLAB (Demonstrator Lab), AVS (Amsterdam
Venture Studios) and many other parties. Masterclasses in TEIP cover
many topics including but not limited to: intellectual property,
finance, technology road-mapping, sustainable scenario planning,
behavioral perspective on entrepreneurship and alliance development. In
TEIP student teams become intrapreneurs as they engage in a full fledged
business planning effort starting with an emerging invention and
aplplication. Teams learn how to engage w researchers as well as with
prospective adopters of the technology. In TEIP the central purpose is
to obtain demonstration through data acquisition of initial proof of
concept in the hands of users
domain of your interest. Further Minor TE (6 EC)
courses include: Forms and Foundations of Entrepreneurship, Open
Innovation in Sciences, Economics for Scientists (MOOC format). This
course series and
the masterclasses are programmed and interconnected so that Minor TE
students are enabled to identify, research and develop a scientific idea
of choice in order to
generate a comprehensive business plan in the TEIP course setting.
Taking TEIP as part of the Minor TE allows students to attain the
following learning objectives :
• Demonstrate understanding, critical assessment and application of the
concepts related to the process of exploring, developing and exploiting
science-based business opportunities
• Demonstrate understanding of the rich contextual environment of
science-based entrepreneurship and become familiar with the nature of
the relationships with key stakeholders, necessary to develop a business
• Demonstrate and gain awareness of the entrepreneurial competencies
that the student possesses and which competencies should be developed
