Doel vakThe aim of this course (2-weeks) is to acquire knowledge on the
embryonic (mal)development of the heart and vessels, cardiac
regeneration and evolution of the vertebrate heart.
Inhoud vakThis course contains various lectures and hands-on practicals about
cardiac development, cardiac regeneration, evolution of the vertebrate
heart, and congenital cardiac anomalies
Onderwijsvorm15 lectures given by experts during morning sessions
2 e-learning modules in the afternoon
2 practicals in the afternoon where students will learn more about
cardiac malformation and the evolution of the vertebrate heart.
ToetsvormThe course will be concluded with a 2 hours examination (open / multiple
choice questions) on the content of the lectures and e-learning.
Handouts will be available on CANVAS
The final mark of this course will be determined by the exam. Students
need to be present and actively participate during the course. Absence
is only allowed with reason and needs to be reported on beforehand.
Literatuur(Review) articles posted on CANVAS are recommended as a reference work
for deeper background knowledge and to facilitate studying the different
DoelgroepThis course is developed as an optional course for master Cardiovascular
Research students from VUmc School of Medical Sciences. Students from
other master programs can also follow this course when they have Basic
knowledge of Cardiovascular Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology. They have
to send their cv, motivation and transcript of records via email to the
program coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org ).
