Are you interested in optimizing sports performance, supporting people with impaired motor functioning, or gaining a fundamental understanding of how we move? Then the Master’s in Human Movement Sciences (HMS) is for you. In this one-year programme you learn to translate multidisciplinary scientific knowledge into applications in sport, exercise, health and rehabilitation.
The programme is organized around four learning trajectories that create coherence across the curriculum:
• Science and Societal Interplay: connecting movement science to real-world challenges and societal impact
• Theory of Human Movement Sciences: advanced domain knowledge plus integration across domains;
• Academic and Research Skills: rigorous research methods, data analysis and open science;
• (Inter)Personal Development: professional identity, collaboration, communication and self-directed learning.
You will specialize in one of four domains through a set of three domain courses while also learning to integrate perspectives across the broader field:
• Physiology of Human Performance and Health,
• Psychology in Sports, Performance and Health,
• Movement Neuroscience for Health and Rehabilitation, or
• Biomechanics in Sports, Exercise and Health.
Alongside your domain, you build strong research and data skills, explore the link between movement science and society, and develop professionally for careers in sport, health, research and beyond. You also complete a research project on a topic that matches your interests, so you can graduate as an independent, critical and impactful movement scientist.
