Theologie & Religiewetenschappen (1 jr)

2026-2027

The master’s programme Theology and Religious Studies consists of specializations, aiming at different professions:

  • Spiritual Care
  • Peace, Trauma and Religion
  • Exploring a Discipline

The specialization Spiritual Care consists of general courses and of courses that are specifically meant for education within one’s own religious affiliation. There is also a possibility for religiously unaffiliated students to follow this specialization in order to become an independent care-giver.

The specialization Peace, Trauma and Religion explores and teaches the knowledge, skills and insights you will need for a career in the growing field of peace and conflict studies. Religion is often misused to incite violent conflicts, while at the same time it is one of the strongest ethical and spiritual resources for conflict resolution and transitional justice. Not only between individuals or in groups, but also in reconciliation processes within societies, between societies, and with the earth.

The specialization Exploring a Discipline gives the opportunity to become more proficient in one's chosen discipline. The “discipline” that is being explored can be one of several possibilities:

  • Bible Translation
  • Biblical Studies and Digital Humanities
  • Contextual Biblical Interpretation
  • Evangelical and Baptistic Leadership
  • Islam: Past, Present and Future
  • New Testament and Christian Origins
  • Philosophy and Religion
  • Reformed and Evangelical Theology
  • Religious Heritage
  • Psychology and Religion
  • Psychedelics and Religion
