Doel vak

In this course, students gain knowledge of different research methods
used in psychological research and learn to critically evaluate
scientific research, and to make informed decisions when carrying out
studies themselves.

Inhoud vak

In the lectures students will learn about the purpose, scope, and
limitations of different research methods and designs, such as
Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT), literature reviews, and
meta-analyses. Additionally, students will get acquainted with practical
and ethical aspects of conducting research in psychology, such as ethics
in collecting and reporting data, determining statistical power, and
dealing with missing values.
Tutorials are in line with the lectures. During tutorials, students will
for example practice with making founded decisions when carrying out
research, and with interpreting and assessing results reported and
claims made in a variety of research papers.
