Doel vak

Students
* have knowledge of the intersectionality framework and learn how to
relate this to the theory of religious diversity and dialogue
* know how to do an intersectional analysis on a given religious
diversity situation to create a dialogue intervention
* are able to organise, facilitate, reflect on and draw conclusions for
next steps based on an actual self-developed dialogue intervention as
well as maximise it's impact
* can communicate their own approach to dialogue in a chosen context
(either in education; religious organisation; public domain) in academic
writing
* are able to reflect on the interreligious learning situation as such

Inhoud vak

This course deals with the Contemporary Theory and Practice of
(Religious) Diversity and Dialogue in European context from an
Intersectional Approach.

Onderwijsvorm

Mixed education forms: Lectures; Practicals; Flipped Classroom;
Discussions through diverse dialogue methods; Field visit of two
Dialogue events; Dialogue Organisation and Facilitation Assignment
NOTE: YOU WILL ORGANIZE YOUR OWN DIALOGUE EVENT and visit two dialogue
events organised by other organisations, ALL DURING THE DUTCH WEEK OF
DIALOGUE under the label 'VU students in dialogue'. BLOCK A TIME AND
ARRANGE A LOCATION AS SOON AS YOU CAN. (2019 dates Dutch Week of
Dialogue: 1-10 november. classes on 4 and 6 november are cancelled to
make this possible).
Minimal participation: 8 of 10 classes are mandatory.

Toetsvorm

1 page Class participation and reflection on our interreligious learning
(10%) to be handed in 24 hrs before last class; 2 page Good Practices
Report to be handed in 2 workdays before secondlast class (30%); 4 page
Theoretical Paper to be handed in on exam date (60%).

Work in progress will be presented during course period.

Courses Building Interreligious Relations 3 and 4 alternate on a yearly
basis with the other courses Building Interreligious Relations 1 and 2.
