Doel vak

To obtain detailed knowledge of translational radiopharmaceutical
sciences

Inhoud vak

Radiopharmaceutical sciences concern the development and evaluation of
radiolabeled compounds, so-called radiopharmaceuticals. These
radiopharmaceuticals can be either imaging agents for Positron Emission
Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT)
or therapeutic agents. The stunning clinical successes of nuclear
imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy have resulted in a rapid
growth of the field of radiopharmaceutical sciences, a truly
translational scientific discipline in which design, synthesis and
application of radiopharmaceuticals is key.
This course focusses on radiopharmaceutical design, including target
validation with molecular biology techniques, lead finding and
optimization for radiopharmaceuticals, in vitro investigations,
preclinical research including imaging and metabolism, radiopharmacy
aspects like Good Manufacturing Practice, regulatory matters (eg
Eudralex 4) and European Pharmacopea.

Onderwijsvorm

The "Flipped classroom method" is used. Lectures have been recorded
(slides + audio) and
need to be independently studied by the students (there are no regular
classes). Rather, all contact hours are used for problem solving
sessions and case studies.
