Inhoud vak

The Bachelor Project is meant as a conclusion of AI bachelor studies.

Each student will select a project based on available topics and supervisors. If the student works on the thesis according to the standard timeline, the student can select from an assortment of topics offered by the department, or do a project within a company. If the student finds a suitable supervisor, it is also possible to suggest an own topic.

Part of the project consists of the study and review of literature.

The Bachelor Project AI is concluded with an individual report/thesis.

Aanvullende informatie onderwijsvormen

After an orientation meeting, the student selects a supervisor and a topic. The work, carried out on individual basis, results in a written report (thesis) and an oral poster presentation at the annual AI Bachelor Seminar.

Toetsvorm

Grading is done via a rubric available on Canvas.

  • evaluation of student work (50%)
  • final report (40%)
  • final oral presentation (10%)

Use of generative AI is only permitted for orientation and brainstorming (Level 2a):

In this course, generative AI (GenAI), such as ChatGPT or similar tools, may only be used for orientation and brainstorming, for example to explore ideas or clarify questions. GenAI may not be used to generate content that becomes part of the final submission. The final product must be based entirely on the student's own understanding, analysis, and wording. Incorrect use of GenAI is considered fraud. If established, the submitted work or assessment result will be declared invalid, and the Examination Board may impose further measures.

Bachelor Artificial Intelligence (year 3)

Overige informatie

The standard time to do your thesis is in period 5 and 6, usually running from the beginning of April until the end of June (see https://vu.nl/en/education/more-about/academic-calendar for the precise dates).

Topics are shared with students earlier in the academic year. Topic registration is only final if the topic has been recorded in OnStage.

If a student starts the work on their topic late, there is no guarantee that the student is able to finish their thesis work within the given academic year. In practice, this means that if a student does not register their topic before the start of period 5, then they need to do their thesis in the following academic year.

Toelichting Canvas

On Canvas you can find the Bachelor Project manual with detailed information. The Onstage platform will be used for finding projects, supervisors, as well as for the submission of documents and assessment.
